Shaping the future of Greater Adelaide’s open spaces
The Greater Adelaide Open Space Strategy is South Australia’s new framework for the Greater Adelaide Open Space System, replacing the former Metropolitan Open Space System (MOSS) as part of the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan (GARP). The Strategy is based on a natural systems-led approach, reviewing and analysing the Greater Adelaide region’s catchments, rivers, creeks and streams to establish a new framework for the regional open space.

Northern Parklands
1,000ha of new open space for Adelaide’s growing northern suburbs
Developed as part of the new Greater Adelaide Regional Plan (GARP), the fully funded $53m Northern Park Lands will feature natural open spaces, new sport and recreation facilities, a new railway station as well as three interconnected Linear Parks with shared-use paths that will provide a continuous loop around Gawler.
More than 760 hectares will be preserved for natural green open space that supports greater biodiversity and increases habitats for native animals.
Located adjacent to the Kulda growth area south of Gawler, the Northern Park Lands will provide an uninterrupted journey from the hills face to the Gawler River.

River Torrens to Darlington Urban Design Strategy
Creating a meaningful and authentic legacy for Adelaide’s inner west and southern suburbs
An 11km new motorway under inner western Adelaide - the last piece in a 78km critical economic and social connection for South Australia. The comprehensive urban design strategy is the boldest one in South Australia’s infrastructure history, for our biggest civil project in history....so it needed to guide better and integrated outcomes.
Ensuring new open spaces, better active and public transport links, a minimum 20% increase in tree canopy cover as well as improved local and regional connectivity are the outcomes being sought.
